Knights Sweep First Ever Home Weekend Series

11/19/18 – The Northstar Knights completed their first ever home weekend sweep by beating the Nationally ranked Sioux Falls Power U18 AAA team by the scores of 2-1 on Saturday and 5-1 on Sunday.

Leading the way for the Knights were their 2 junior goalies, Camdyn Barber (02 from Portland, OR) and Collin Soderholm (01 from Monticello, MN), each recording a win and 20 plus saves in 60 minutes of work.

The Knights defense was dominant, limiting the scoring chances by the Power while keying the rush throughout the weekend’s games. Jakob Stender (02 from Alexandria, MN), Luke Anderson (02 from St. Cloud, MN) and Tyler Ryder (02 from Grand Rapids, MI) anchor a young Knights D core.

All 4 forward lines contributed over the week-end as the Knights had a well balanced scoring attack. In game one, goals by Talon Sigurdson (02 from Sartell, MN) and Co-Captain Jackson Vercellono (00 from Lacona, NH) were all that the Knights needed to secure the win. On Sunday, key goals by Ben Strinden (02 from Fargo, ND, Connor Kemp (01 Placentia, CA) and Co-Captain Joey Dosan (01 from Bloomington, MN) helped secure the win.

The Knights recognized SF Power Player Brett Reed (01 from Crosslake, MN) as the Most Respected Opponent after the 2 games as well as Truett Olson (01 from Alexandria, MN) as the Knights “Warrior of the Weekend” for his sacrificial play over the week-end.

The Knights are off for Thanksgiving and then return to action in Blaine Minnesota for their 2nd league week-end December 1-3. The Knights opened up league play with 4 consecutive wins outscoring opponents by the score of 24 -2. They currently sit tied for first place with Lake Tahoe Academy of California.
